
VISTAR METHOD FOR EVOLUTIONARY CIRCLES
THE 4 GUIDERULES
PURPOSE: To facilitate a transpersonal atmosphere and support a resonant energy circulating through the entire group.
- Raise your hand to contribute.
- Contribute on the Topic - contributions should be between 1-3 minutes.
- No questions during the Circle.
- No Cross-Talk.
1 RAISE YOUR HAND TO CONTRIBUTE
Raising our hands is a timeless gesture - it's a symbol of giving and contribution. A contribution can be intellectual knowledge, personal sharing, spiritual insight or societal considerations.
- Leader calls on Participants by name.
- Give contributions a chance to develop before speaking
- Silences are OK - or you can re-state the topic or re-read the topic content.
THE EGO - wants to speak whenever it wants to. Most times we are thinking what we want to say while the other person is speaking. This Guiderule helps us access a more authentic voice and opens space for what wants to emerge.
2 CONTRIBUTE ON THE TOPIC FOR 1-3 MINUTES
Following the topic not only allows an orderly and productive meeting, but focused attention is itself an aspect of the evolutionary invisible realm.
- Typically, 20% of participants will contribute regularly. 30% moderately and 50% might be quiet or only contribute sporadically. There are many techniques to help non-contributors such as giving out prewritten statements relevant to the topic, which could be read periodically - this starts the energy flowing.
THE EGO - with its self-centered orientation, changes quickly and does not want to focus and often over-talks. This Guiderule creates reciprocity, connection and intimacy opening a spacious, flexible intelligence that is the springboard for the Evolutionary Impulse.
3 NO QUESTIONS
One aspect of an Evolutionary Circle is that Collective Consciousness becomes the teacher and the questions are answered in that Presence.
- If someone asks a question, reorient them to make it into a statement.
- Suggest they ask their question after the meeting - most never do.
THE EGO - often asks questions to argue - to show it knows more - to take attention. This Guiderule allows us to explore the cutting edge of evolutionary leadership and not fall into the traditional leader role of answering questions during the meeting.
4 NO CROSS-TALK
Not expressing agreement or disagreement directly leads to a transpersonal atmosphere where we relate in a higher way to ourselves, to others and to the Evolutionary Field.
- Except for the Leader calling on participants, names are not used during the Circle meeting.
THE EGO - is usually looking to points of difference for separation. This Guiderule lifts the Circle above the frequency of personal problems in which the ego lives and puts those circumstances in an evolutionary context.
