Gurdjieff/Ouspensky/Nicoll

One of the many teachings in the Gurdjieff System which influences Vistar and the evolution of Collective Consciousness is the Three Lines of The Work. The Three Lines of the Work state that an individual must work on himor herself – with others – and for the sake of the ideas of “The Work”. Collective Consciousness includes all three lines. It expands our work on ourselves through shared observations; it creates a community that involves working with each other; and the Field of Collective Intelligence Itself demands our participation for the sake of the evolution of Consciousness.

Georges Ivanovitch Gurdjieff (1866-1949) was a revolutionary mystic and mysterious presence who spent his life searching out ancient knowledge for use by Western Man. Little is known of him, except for scattered accounts which connect his journey to meetings with the Mevlevi Dervishes of Constantinople, the Sarmong Brotherhood in remote parts of southern Russia, and teachings from Tibet. He integrated these teachings into a comprehensive system of esoteric practice, blending eastern and western, ancient and modern perspectives. This system called “The Work” is a very practical and direct method for Self-Knowledge and transformation.

Gurdjieff’s key students, Petr I. Ouspensky and Maurice Nicoll continued and articulated Gurdjieff’s teachings. Ouspensky’s In Search of the Miraculous and Nicoll’s Psychological Commentaries are of huge importance and value for a deeper explication and understanding of “THE WORK”.

Rudolf Steiner: Visionary and Guide

“Through the process of absorbing anthroposophic ideas, a real spiritual being emerges in the room… We can feel as if there were a being looking down on us, floating above us, being spiritually truly present…People awake through each other. They awake through each other by finding each other again and again…only there we become real awake human beings…Then real communal Spirituality descends to our workplace.” -Rudolf Steiner

Vistar has been greatly influenced by the many works of Rudolf Steiner. His writings on the nature of invisible world and of the Beings that inhabit it have shaped our understanding of what is happening…”when two or more are gathered in my name.” His descriptions of imaginative cognition and intuition have inspired us in our explorations of conscious collaborations beyond the third dimension.

There are many spiritual best sellers in this century; however to be in touch with the depth, and breadth and height of the Works of Rudolf Steiner, CLAIRVOYANT, MYSTIC, ARTIST, EDUCATOR, PHILOSOPHER, LECTURER and more, is to be in the PRESENCE of GREATNESS.

We are grateful to Rudolf Steiner for continuing to open these fantastic worlds.

Non-Dualism: The Unchanging Truth

The Non-Dualistic tradition—ancient yet absolutely contemporary—asks us to consider the question of our True Identity…WHO AM I?

The Non-Dualistic tradition is grounded in the Absolute Principle that our True Nature is boundless and unlimited. It recognizes our True Essence as spirit being, unborn and undying–without process, time, space, or form, present HERE AND NOW.

This is the basic vista…the view from the stars from which Vistar takes its name.

12 Steps

Vistar Foundation has been inspired by the power and miraculous nature of the 12 step program as a spiritual path. 12 Step groups are an example of people who can come together and do what they cannot do on their own. The admission of powerlessness leads them to find, through 12 steps and the power of the Collective a “conscious contact with God or a Higher Power”. A lot of attention has been given to the “12 steps”, however the significance of “GROUP” aspect of the program is equally important and even more astounding.
